Managing Difficult Situations in 4 Steps

The first step is to realize that something is not going as desired. The actions taken in the past have not produced the hoped-for result. If you listen closely, you can easily hear it: the pressure increases, everything slows down, the movements are no longer natural, sincere, simple.

In the second step, you are dealing with a bomb and you know it. Now it remains to decide which approach to take. With a bomb, there are always and only two options: defuse or explode. The first requires patience and experience but leads to an accompanied change, to a new balance. The second is faster but causes significant consequences inside and all around.

The mind that obsessively races through every possibility and the weight on your heart will lead to a lowering of the mood. It’s important to let these sensations pass through you, or they might increase. Stay in the company of your pain, learn to observe and be understanding with yourself.

The third step is to immerse yourself in a higher view of the situation, beginning to ask yourself some questions, like:

How did we get here? Does my heart want to solve this situation? How do I learn, heal, improve thanks to what is happening?

The fourth and final step is where you invest energy in acting. Everything you are responsible for needs you to set the course. For everything else, have faith and let the Universe put the pieces of the puzzle together.

And when things get better, you will see that your effort was an example and that the entire world has changed. Because, as Lao Tzu said: when you find the path, others will find it too, and in finding the way, they will be drawn to your door.
